Just friends

The fact of the matter was that I knew, she knew; we both knew…that if he or anyone else ever saw us talking or limin’ or even in each other’s chats while they were still together, they’d automatically assume it was something it wasn’t. That’s just how it was in Trinidad. Everyone was looking for the next big bacchanal. Everybody was addicted to the hype. Everyone in the social scene that is.

Everybody but me.

It might not seem that way, but people are entitled to their opinions. Which is why it was easiest for me to just hold my corner and try to be humble. Whenever people were ready for me, they’d always known exactly where to find me.
